Nice thing. I was torn between the 8GB Nano and this 30GB video because they basically cost the same. I'm glad I have 30GB. I mainly use it at my desk at work, so the size of the device isn't of the utmost importance. As is the expected longevity of flash memory on a hard drive. In addition, this device is still quite compact. I've downloaded 950 songs and used about 6GB so far. I don't intend to watch movies or anything like that, but I like the video feature, mainly for showing clips to friends. I bought a clear rubber "skin" to protect against scratches and dropped the device once. No problem. It landed on carpet, but it wasn't the softest commercial carpet. I've considered Sansa or Zen and I'm sure they're decent players, but I know I love my iPod. Navigation is easy and syncing with iTunes is easy. I find iTunes a bit sluggish on my P4 2.8GHz PC.
