After breaking my finger too many times during competition training, I decided it was time for the mats. They have proven to be relatively durable and compatible with the universal use of the mats. I've used them for practice, training and sparring with full gear and they last. They don't affect balance too much and are relatively easy to put on and take off. There is no equivalent for bare feet and I will not lie and say they are equivalent. But they're not bad, they seem to be the latest and the price is right. I'm not sure if it will be much better than matte shoes.
