Great design and solution for peace at home

There are two children aged 12 and 8 at home and the main reason for the conflict between them is sharing a mobile phone. However, a short story. We used to get one for everyone. This creates calm, but the immediate negative consequence goes to the other extreme that they simply don't talk to each other. All they do when they get home from school is throw themselves on the couch and stare at their phones forever. I once noticed that they actually text each other when they're only 5ft away from them! This is madness! I can understand that they don't want to talk to their parents at that age because I did that at the same age. But I still talked a lot with my siblings and played together. Granted there must be a generation gap these days because they are in the internet era and I had almost nothing to play with back then. However, I believe that they should speak to their brother personally. That I decided to take their phone away from them. But I quickly realized that it is important, at least for safety, that they can turn to us if they need help or something similar. The compromise was that they would use the same phone because they were in the same class with the same schedule, so they didn't need an extra one. My plan worked from the start. They talked a lot when they got home, but not quite in the way I expected. The main topic of their discussion, as is easy to understand, is the dispute over who should own the phone. For privacy reasons, they don't use social media on the phone. Your requirements are actually pretty close: watching videos or playing sports. Despite the fact that they would watch the same content most of the time, they are so paranoid about the right to hold the phone. Another interesting thing is that they don't seem interested in watching TV. However, the situation is so paradoxical that they obviously need a phone; One phone causes a fight and two phones is not what I need.
