Our cat throws a litter party every time she uses the litter box. I cleaned up the garbage that was scattered throughout the room several times a day. I tried the litter box but he just threw it over the sides and down my back, well out of the litter box's reach. So I knew a closed box was the only option. It was one of the cheapest options. We have several trays so price was the deciding factor in our selection. It really helped keep the scattered debris to a minimum. From time to time our male will lean his back against the door while he rakes and squirts a bit, but the sides are high enough to stop most of it and the rest ends up on the litter box. I was worried they might not like the door but our male jumped in. straight in to check the place and our younger wife followed straight ahead. Our male is 9lbs and the female is about 5lbs and they both fit. Our dog doesn't understand what a door is, so we don't have to lug her cat poop snacks anymore. * Rejection of responsibility. Chances are your dog is smarter than my dog and has better eyesight, so this probably won't stop most dogs. My only problem and why I don't give it 5 stars is that the door falls off. There really has to be a better system. It's a little difficult to get back to the assembled box, and it's fairly easy to accidentally knock it over. I've had no issues with the entire top being knocked off and I keep the top but take the door off to clean. Cleaning the corners doesn't seem very difficult, but I have to attack it from an angle to get the scoop angle. Overall I think this is a pretty good choice for the price.
