Comfortable and stylish

I was looking for a comfortable, high quality nylon strap for my new Sea-Gull Ocean Star 200M dive watch to replace the luxurious but heavy link strap for everyday use. I tried at least a dozen other brands of NATO, Zulu, Ballistic Nylon, Two-Piece etc etc before deciding to try this strap. Getting down to business, this NATO style Nylon Archer Harness has now moved to the top of the list as my personal favourite. It is the most comfortable due to the softer material of the finish. Period. Add in a deep black with fine grain and a sleek matte black buckle and clasps and you have a superior package. Full Disclosure: I modified the strap by removing the standard short half NATO strap to make it look cleaner and less bulky. , and cut the overall length using the method found on YouTube so the cut ends are carefully soldered while maintaining the band's protective function in case the spring bar breaks or comes loose. In general, this is my nylon "grail" now. Watch straps - they are comfortable to wear, they are lightweight and create a stylish, quality look that complements my elegant tool watch. Very satisfied and will buy again. UPDATE: Since writing this review I have reviewed a few other versions of watch straps made from "softer" strap material and the most common complaint about this type of strap material is that the perforated holes stretch. after loading by the tensile force of the locking tongue. I've also noticed this issue with an Archer strap after a few days of normal use with no water exposure or overstretching - not a big deal but it could affect its long-term use. I'm still in awe of that strap material, so I'm trying to experiment by using a small lighter on a propane grill with a tiny, sharp "blowtorch" type flame to "heat treat" a few stretched holes after I've resealed them pressed in have the correct position. I did this both front and back just around the three holes to make them "harder" by just putting the tip of the flame on each hole for about half a second, pressing on the warm material and then the Flame hung up again and flattened out. again. For now this seems to have improved the stretching issue, but I'll update this note in a week to report results. I am attaching a photo of two "heat treated" holes during operation. Nothing has changed in terms of cosmetic appearance. Due to this issue I'm reducing my rating to 4 stars. I'd be interested in hearing from Archer about your thoughts. This is NOT a deal breaker for me, but it seems that some minor and inexpensive product improvements could make Archer the undisputed market leader. Stay with us. UPDATE #2: After wearing the strap daily for various activities as well as at night for 30 days, my "heat treated" holes are still in good condition - I've touched up two of them, two just hardened. a little more and it seems to be holding up well. I usually change the strap holes 2-3 times a day to account for wrist swelling/tightness - if you don't have this problem you can just treat one hole and leave the rest alone. Still the most comfortable nylon strap I have ever seen and I have a full drawer. I'm leaving my rating at four stars and hope Archer finds a way to subtly reinforce the holes during manufacture. process, but still buy again. MFGR SUGGESTION: Consider making this strap "two-piece”. Some watch wearers like being able to see the back of their watch when they take it off their wrist, or they don't like much of the extra length of the folded NATO-style strap.
