Bought as carry-on for a flight to Florida. I like that it can be a backpack or a shoulder bag. I used it as a shoulder bag when flying. The shoulder straps of the backpack are hidden in a zipped compartment, in which you can also store things. The exterior zippered pockets are vertical only as a backpack, and the interior pockets and laptop compartment are vertical only as a shoulder bag, but this didn't prove to be a problem. It's easy to stow in the luggage rack of an airplane or even under the seat in front of you if you don't stuff it all the way in. All in all an attractive, durable canvas bag.
