Review on πŸ“Έ Improved Ground Level Spreader for Non-Spiked Series Tripods - Upgraded Alternative to Manfrotto 3155 by George Robinson

Helps, but there are disadvantages

I have Manfrotto 755XB and 755X tripod legs. These legs splay wide apart so the bottom braces keep the legs "smaller apart" and increase the overall height. My 755's legs have a center column, so the bottom brace makes it difficult to fold the tripod into the "stowed" position. So I have to remove the spacer at the end of the shoot. But I think it's still better to remove the expander so that the rubber bands don't loosen in the "stretched position". Cons: If you're moving while shooting, folding your legs for movement and reopening your legs, sometimes you have to kick a leg or two to open them fully, as if the splayfoot wasn't in the starting position. In this case, the spreader is in the position with the smallest diameter. I didn't use a full diameter position. the tripod floats on the grass. I removed the strut and the tripod is much more stable. for the price it's a good buy.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
