Review on πŸ“· CAMVATE Universal Basic Camera Cage Rig - Top Handle Included for Enhanced Versatility by Christina Potter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hard Camera & Photo Cage

So at first I was hesitant to buy this product as there were no reviews and the price seemed much lower. The cage came in excellent packaging, with a separate handle and the letter C. The bracket is assembled with an extra screw. The cage is light and feels solid. Lots of mounting options, which is nice. I put it on my gh5 and attached some pics. It feels tight at the moment so I'm hoping the bolts stay the same but time will tell. I haven't used it for movies yet. I am concerned about the quality of the screws and how long they will last. I also hope this doesn't put additional strain on the camera's hot shoe. There are other cages out there but the extra handles seem unnecessary and I hate the fact that other brands like Smallrig only have one point of contact, the base. (EDIT: They have a counterpart to this product, but it's $40 more.) Based on the review, there seems to be a little pressure on the hot shoe and the screws seem decent. (At least I hope so, I'm not an expert) To be honest it looks like a great little profile camera setup. The left bar serves as a handle, which is very convenient. The top handle is beautiful. To be honest, I'd hold the camera with both hands, use the cage to put as little pressure as possible, and recommend using the camera's neck strap for safety (but that's just me). It seems to be doing its job, so I felt a 5 star rating was appropriate at the moment.
