Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful Yottamaster Thunderbolt 3 SSD Enclosure for Lightning-Fast NVMe SSD with Intel Certified Thunderbolt Cable Included by Charles Galan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost perfect, but very unreliable

I didn't want to buy an external case and install my own SSD. I have 2 Samsung t5s and a t7. They work fine, but I need a much faster drive to use with my Mac Mini. After reading and researching many reviews, I decided to purchase a Yottamaster case. Looks good, drive installation was easy. It's not about speed. I was able to get 1800/2300 with a PNY 2TB SSD. This is less than the drive capacity, but acceptable. If you want full speed you need an externally powered chassis, so getting that speed from a bus-powered chassis is very good. Now about problems. - Becomes very hot when transferring data. I hope that the internal components will not deteriorate over time - during the tests the speed dropped to 500/500 MB / s, which is not very good for a case with a price of 1 TB Samsung T5. I sent an email to YottaMaster support and asked what can be done to avoid speed drops. I will update the review after receiving a response (if any). 05/01/2021 - Additional. The device is very unreliable. The speed can vary from 500 to 2500, although not as hot as it could be. support does not exist. I think it would be best to avoid this product if you can't contact customer service. 09/01/2021 - 5 starts refund! I just tested this case on my MacBook Pro Core i9 and found that the speed is top notch and never drops! So we have a problem with M1 based Mac devices! Which is not good at all! 01/10/2021 - Tested for 30 minutes and found the behavior to be the same even on an Intel based Mac. Very unreliable speed :(
