I usually wear real compression socks but couldn't find one with the retro triple stripe I wanted like these. I was going to wear compression sleeves underneath just to get the look I wanted but turns out they compress slightly in their elasticity so I can wear them as is. They are comfortable and long enough to climb up. knee length (some knee socks barely reach the knee and form an unsightly bulge where they stop an inch below) and they look great. I wear them all the time. While only slightly compressive, they make up for it by being MUCH easier to put on and take off than actual compression socks (which are a big problem, especially when taking them off). They are not sold as compression stockings but I have found that they have them. Other reviewers describe them as "too tight" but I don't think they're really tight, just too small, they just stretch nicely (probably to keep them from slipping). My weight is 140 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches, so I'm considered tall. My calves are medium to large which causes the socks to expand and stretch a bit to accommodate - hence the compression effect. I think if you have very thin calves there is no compression, or if you have very large calves they compress a lot or feel too tight. Socks are very difficult to fit all variable calf sizes - there can be no one size fits all.
