For the record, you don't need to put a lock on your luggage for it to work. It locks the zippers together, so it doesn't matter if they're closed or not, the zippers will still stay together. That being said, I've never gotten NFC to work with this lock, but I used a key fob instead and that helped for a while. After less than a year of daily use during the work week, it stopped blocking. It's not the battery, everything lights up as it should, it reacts to the key fob and you can hear how the locking mechanism works. However, when I check the lock, it still unzips. I was ready to defend the lock despite the lack of NFC, but it looks like I'll have to find another one.
