Economical vinyl backed hallway carpet. It is placed in front of a dog door to catch dirty paw prints in inclement weather. The underside of the carpet is impermeable, so moisture stays on the carpet. The fabric part is rough enough with no loops to keep paws and cat's claws from getting tangled in it, but provides good support. The carpet can be hosed down if necessary and dried over the deck railing. Whether it's meant to last a lifetime, no, but it's perfect for saving me hours of sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning caused by the comings and goings of my furry family members. It's worth the money and this is the second rug I've bought from this company. The last one lasted several years. If your home hosts black tie parties, this rug is not for you. If you have pets or children who walk through the door wet, dirty or snowy. This rug could be just the thing for you. I might buy another one in a few years. I highly recommend it.
