I bought this system for my 5 year old niece who wanted to be a better writer but didn't yet have the dexterity to move her pencil to where she needed it. First, she liked to use a "pen" instead of a regular pencil or marker. This practice system has definitely helped her get better at writing and drawing, but mostly she finds it more enjoyable than frustrating. I would definitely recommend. One suggestion: instead of a black pen with refills, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks more for a set of multicolored, ready-to-use pens - no ink, just pen cases.
