I've had versions of these cases for years and can attest that they hold up well, protect your device from minor drops and, most importantly, offer a tactile grip that keeps your device out of your shirt pocket or dropped slip out of hand. To be clear, it doesn't do anything directly to protect your screen, but as long as you don't smack something hard directly on the screen, it does the job. I have an iPod touch that has lasted almost 8 years with no damage from any of them. However, if you are protecting a device for a child, you may need something stronger.
