Review on OneTigris Hideout Hammock Underquilt: Lightweight, Full-Length 4-Season Gear for Camping, Hiking, and Backpacking by Brandon Gaines

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits well and is easy to adjust. Be sure to test how cold it works for you: 2-3 seasons.

I lay in hammocks but I live in a warm area so opportunities to try on cold weather clothes were limited. I would say it's ok up to about 55. And if it's not too cold for that duvet cover, I was surprised when I went from a sleeping bag to a duvet to a sheet that even a sheet was enough for me. . However, at around 50 or 45 I wake up at 2 or 3 am and even a really warm blanket can't compensate for the heat loss in my shoulders and back. It's definitely possible to go under 50 with two of these, or one of these and an extra blanket over it under the hammock, or a sleeping bag strapped to the outside of the hammock - but I'm stumped to try it. I've put a system together which I would trust when hiking in the mountains, it's generally not too cumbersome. Others have tried: The Snugpak underblanket is oversized and thick considering it's not made for very cold temperatures. And while the insulation is decent for cool weather, the fit and therefore functionality is underwhelming in cold weather. The cocoon of the snugpack is very bulky, but a bit tight and still not very warm. I tried a Redcamp "cocoon/sleeping bag" and it was too short.
