More than satisfied with the registrar! Great for EVP'ing

We've had a Sony for years and have loved it. I didn't want to try anything else, but I found it hard to give up the features on this Olympus. However, actually using it was a real dream! This voice recorder is so slim and compact and feels good in your hand. All functions are easily accessible via the front panel menu button (just press and hold to bring up the display). You can change the microphone sensitivity in the mode you are recording (WMA or MP3). Folders are easily accessible and sortable. Did I mention the sound quality is crystal clear? This microphone is so sensitive you can hear everything: traffic noise, a ceiling fan high above your head, the breath of other people nearby, your dog biting its back - EVERYTHING. If you've used other recording devices that don't record as much, then it's a bit overwhelming to put on headphones and listen to a playback that's essentially recording every single molecule. However, you quickly get spoiled. I liked that you can listen to this voice recorder in real time; When recording, I could hear that my transmitter should be closer or further away. If you're like me thinking that "listening live" means hearing the EVP's responses as if they were being played, this isn't going to happen. You still have to play to hear most artifacts. If you use Audacity to edit your recordings, it doesn't accept WMA, which this Olympus uses by default. You can enter the recorder's menu and change the output option to MP3 with one click, as well as select the MP3 quality. I like it. Some interesting features of this device: * Built-in retractable USB connector * Use a rechargeable battery and your recorder will charge the battery every time you connect it to your computer's USB port. LIGHTWEIGHT and convenient to carry and use. : The audio output to the speaker is not loud enough ALL movement in your hands or on the surface is captured in the recording, it's SO sensitive
