Review on Embark on an Epic Space Battle with Star Wars X-Wing Death Star Assault Playmat by Cara Ruiz

Damn these empirical difficulties!

Coincidentally, with the release of the second edition of X-Wing Miniatures, FFG has made your entire empirical fleet obsolete. Come on, swear with all my heart, but if you want to crush the rebel alliance again, then this conversion kit is a must. This pack contains an amazing set of upgrade cards and more upgraded ship cards than you'll ever need. On the plus side, you can always pick up a few extra models cheaply on Ebay (somebody say tie bombers?) to boost your powers even more. The main downside is that you will almost certainly end up with a few cards that you will never use. As you can imagine, this dilemma also applies to manure trays and floor liners. I now have a completely separate plastic bin just for all those stupid cardboard things that I paid good money for but won't be using anytime soon. for updated maps and game mechanics, yes that's cool, but did we really have to re-release the game from scratch? Maybe not, but it happened and I have to admit that some of the changes to how energy bolts work and the added power mechanics are pretty cool. My biggest criticism of the new maps is that they removed the unit point costs for ships and upgrades. On the one hand, this makes sense for upgrades, since upgrading a tie-fighter's shield should probably cost more than the same shield upgrade for a tie-back. However, it's definitely more confusing than I'd like that players have to use the official FFG app to create squads. WITH ALL NEW SHIELD TOKENS! Okay I understand FFG expects us to buy a few more expansions so we end up with gallon bags full of shield tokens again but if this conversion kit is going to allow us to play our old ships with the updated game THEN WE NEED SEVERAL SHIELDS RECEIVE! It's a small thing I suppose but it really annoyed me and it cost this product a star but overall this is a must have for any seasoned fleet commander.
