didn't last 6 months

last year i was looking for the perfect case for my ipad mini and found it perfect. Well I was wrong. The quality just isn't right for the price. I bought it a year ago but it stopped working 6 months ago and now that I'm back in the market for a keyboard case (I've used a work laptop so far) I thought you all should know my experience. I liked the rose gold brushed aluminum case. I have received many compliments. The weight was perfect and at first it looked like a real Apple product. However, after a month the pink veneer began to peel off and it quickly began to look shabby. I take good care of my devices and their cases, and I have a dedicated compartment in my purse for this iPad, but the finish doesn't seem to last long. Next time I would choose silver so that the scratches are less noticeable. This small aesthetic problem is not decisive for me. A sign of poor quality is this: the hinge that holds the iPad upright broke completely after only 6 months of use. I have to put it on my leg (when lying down) or on a stack of books (on a table) so I can type on it while looking at the screen. I would imagine it happening on a $20 case, but on a $40 case? I spent more expecting better quality. It's ridiculous that you have to buy a protection plan to solve a problem that's clearly due to poor design and planned obsolescence. Two positive aspects: all buttons still work and have a pleasant touch, and the battery actually lasts forever. . However, this is useless if the screen cannot be placed vertically. If you're looking for something on a budget, look elsewhere. If you're looking for lasting quality, go elsewhere.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old man
Cons
  • i'm worried
