I prefer these to your standard cedar panels. They are very dimensionally stable and do not shrink when screwed on. I use them to install cabinets and jambs/windows. They don't always snap into the desired part if you simply bend them after installation, so it's a good idea to pre-cut the joint before snapping it in place. It takes more effort and attention to trim a joint when it's not exactly where you want it. They will also quickly dull utility knife blades if you pre-cut.
