for cell phone and car holder - universal magnetic car holder Diateklity dashboard holder - Fits iPhone 5/6/6 PLUS, Samsung Galaxy S5/S4/S3/, Note 2/3/4, Nexus 5, HTC, LG, BlackBerry, etc. (black) Two devices are not a complete overview, but the comparison can help other readers help get an idea of what to expect or can expect from other competing devices. although freedom of movement is somewhat restricted. The Scosche also uses a ball and socket joint, but the shank of the head is curved to allow the head to hang further "over the edge" on one side than the other. The unique thing about it is that by rotating the head 180 degrees in the ball joint, you can choose which side you want the head to hang further on. This gives the Scosche an incredible range of motion - nearly 150 degrees in one plane versus less than 90 degrees for the Diateklity. See my double exposure photo for illustration. The Diateklity's limited range of motion can limit mounting options, while the Scosche is sufficiently adjustable to accommodate any surface orientation. Magnets: Scosche has a stronger magnet. If the car bounces and shakes while driving on the freeway, the Scosche mount will hold the phone in place better. The Diateklity magnet makes my phone slip a little more often and I sometimes have to reposition the phone on the mount head. My phone is larger than the average 5.5 inch phone with a 0.05 inch thick rubber body and a steel mounting plate sandwiched between the phone and the body. Your results may vary depending on the size/weight of your phone and where you place the steel plate. The magnetic bond would be stronger if the steel plate was glued directly to the back of the case instead of inside the case where it is still 0.05 inch away from the magnet. As an experiment, I tested the magnet strength of each mount with my Garmin. The GPS is placed on top of the phone for added weight. Scosche's magnet lifted both devices slightly, but Diateklity's magnet did not. Again, your results may vary, but the point is that Scosche has a stronger magnet. soft, sticky gel pads. I'm not a fan of that crap and prefer the hard vulcanized rubber suction cup on my Garmin mount. he is too strong. It is difficult to tear off and may damage your car's dashboard. There are numerous reports from other reviewers that even in hot weather, the gel melts and turns into a sticky goo. This can mess up your dashboard if installed there. .I had no opp. Despite all the hot weather testing, I have every faith that this soft gel will melt. The hard rubber on my Garmin mount doesn't hold up that well, but if the rubber is dampened and placed on a smooth surface, it will easily last a couple of months before firing. It doesn't damage the finish and I don't mind reapplying it every few months. However, the hard rubber suction cup does not stick to structured surfaces. (Garmin provides a smooth plastic disk with double-sided tape for these configurations.) Soft gel suction cups can be installed on a soft or textured surface, but are not friendly. Just two days later they left a "hickey" on my dashboard when I removed them. It's scary to imagine what a mess they'll make in hot weather.
