Right size - BRIGHT!

This lamp is bright white with a color temperature of 3000K (colors above 3500K tend to have a bluish tint which can cause sleep problems). These lamps are really good! They fit in the tight space of a ceiling fan sphere and give off the brightness of 100 watt incandescent bulbs (100 watts x 2 in my fan!). The milky shade diffuses and reduces the light a bit, but I placed shiny aluminum foil over the bulbs to reflect the light upwards. Inorganic, to remember, more blue does NOT mean brighter. Lumens are brightness, not color. These lamps each deliver 1200 lumens (a typical 60W incandescent lamp delivers around 700-800 lumens). In addition, the CRI value tells you how natural the color looks on the objects you see (including skin). These bulbs have a CRI above 80. To be honest, 80 is the minimum for a normal look (some bulbs don't declare their CRI, often because it's very low). CRI 80 is great? nope But at least that's enough and doesn't make a human look like a zombie like some LED lightbulbs. LEDs save a lot of energy, also thanks to some tricks. First, unlike the sun, they show a very limited light color (color temperature). Second, they only light up when the current is going in one direction (always on when receiving DC and half the time when running true AC). Color has different meanings for different people. Those with blue irises tend to perceive a broader blue spectrum, while those with brown/black irises tend to perceive the green spectrum more often. Being blue eyed, the bluish tint of 4000-5000k light in my eyes gives me a really terrible headache during the day! But brown-eyed colleagues don't even notice this (although any sleep rhythm can be disrupted by bluer light). color solution? 2700k is too yellow (even for many blue eyes). It's best to use 3000-3500k to reduce the yellow cast, keep the brightness and offend people less (although not everyone is thrilled). Next check CRI (80+) and then Lumens (more means brighter). This lamp has become the sweet spot for both blue-eyed and brown-eyed families, and is bright enough for those whose retinas have previously been damaged by unfiltered 4000k fluorescent light (that's one thing, google it). TMI? May be. But choose. knowing why you are making your choice. I am very happy with these lamps and will buy more if they don't work. I haven't found the best, and Revane gets on with Prime quickly. They are supplied individually in small boxes sealed in a zipped Mylar bag inside a Revain pouch. Big!
