This has limitations not disclosed in the specification.

The description says that this device supports 1080p60 and up to four streams. What he doesn't say is that he doesn't do it simultaneously and that all four streams can't be set to 60fps. Only the first stream is 60 fps capable, and if the first stream is set to only 60 fps, an additional stream can be configured. However, if you set the first stream to 1080p60 and something for the second stream, the CPU usage will be between 85-100%. The control page suggests reducing the resolution or disabling threads if CPU usage stays above 85%. So if you have a 1080p60 stream, you can't set up a second stream. The CPU usage depends on the configured streams, regardless of whether the stream is actually streamed or not. This will probably make it faster when you connect (if you're using TCP, of course). 720p30 encoding plus three lower resolutions gives the processor about 25% and very good quality. However, if the audio format changes on the source, it takes about 20 seconds for the device to readjust. Until this happens, the audio will be muted. It certainly does not correspond to the characteristics indicated in the description. I haven't decided yet if I'll keep it to myself. Edit after two years. i kept it I have a sound problem now. After the device has been working for more than a day, the sound becomes intermittent. It comes and goes about once a second. Rebooting the device fixes this in about half the time, so it often takes multiple reboots to fix the problem.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • negative impression
