I cut the original Land Rover key fob with a utility knife. board removed. Old battery soldered out of the circuit. Soldered a new battery Panasonic Panasonic ( 1X VL2330 ) Rechargeable, VL2330 - VL 2330, VL2330/HFN , 3V Lithium Coil Cell Battery, also at Revain. Replaced the original Range Rover "laser" key with a new key fob. Use a small watchmaker's hammer and a Harbor Freight 1/16" pin punch to knock the pins out. I had to discard the back end of the original key to fit the new key fob's flip slot. used a new blank from a new key fob as a template. After this was done I made sure the button had the correct spring tension so that it (the switch) opened when the button was pressed. I closed the new key fob case and installed the included small screw to hold the case closed. I was then able to program the new remote using Guy's procedure below. It worked like a charm on my 2008 Range Rover HSE: The following process worked great for me with both keys. Both are now fully functional - thanks. Programming the new key(s) Replacing a missing Land Rover master key is quite expensive, try not to embark on the additional cost of 'dealership coding'. You can do it yourself in 2 minutes by following the instructions. Simple process below: 1) Enter and close all doors. quick on/off and key removal (all within about 5 seconds). 2) Within 30 seconds after turning off the ignition, press the unlock button three times while holding the unlock button. Release the unlock button. (You may get confirmation from the door locks.) For best results, hold the key at head height as the key sensor is located in the side window pillar. 3) Repeat this for each key you want to initialize within 30 seconds of the last one you initialized (if you have more). 4) Immediately after making the last key, quickly put the key back in the ignition and turn it on/off again to complete the process.
