I've had an SD1000 ELPH for a long time and I've always liked it. very reliable and functional point and shoot camera but it is getting old and tired. Bought this camera as a replacement. Most of the other reviewers have already covered most of the pros and cons so I won't reinvent the wheel, but overall I'm very happy with this camera. It has the same functionality as my dear old SD1000, with a number of significant improvements. Full Auto mode is impressively smart, selecting flash/macro/shutter/focus with amazing intelligence. I took it to a party and took a lot of covert shots in normal room lighting with no flash and apart from some motion blur due to the slow shutter speed it produced great shots. The video is impressive at lower resolutions but I had some issues with the full 1080p mode, the video stutters but 780p seems fine. An impressive 10x zoom enables close-up shots outdoors. Image quality is excellent to my unexperienced eye, with good color balance. I've even managed to set up Wi-Fi to wirelessly transfer images to my laptop and while I agree that the instructions are far from optimal, if you follow them carefully this can work. Apparently wireless is only supported in Win 7 and 8, so if you have an older OS it probably won't work well. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a really compact pocket camera to just point and click and get good shots with minimal fuss. The simpler the better.
