I have higher quality charcoal for my BBQ grill and fire pit - the problem is that it takes longer to light, keep it burning and burn longer/slower. Neither of these things are terrible, but I've always been a bit nervous about starting a fire - that would make an awful stock fire starter! I also absolutely HATE putting flammable liquid on coals to ignite them, so I have these little fire starter "nests" that do a great job of starting a fire. Now I needed a way to get my hand close enough but far enough away that I wouldn't be afraid to pull my burned hand or hand back. am i a little paranoid? Maybe, but this torch gives me a little more peace of mind - it moves the propane tank away from where I'm trying to start the fire, so I aim the burning tip of the torch ONLY at the arsonists. My little system with this torch works for me (and my fear of fire) to light a grill or fire pit. That's all I use it for at the moment. I have a resin countertop project I want to make and this flashlight should come in handy for that too!
