It seems to me that after reading all the other reviews people were asking for ear pounding. Well, for me they advance about an inch. I don't really care, because God made the coconut a little different for everyone. I use mine when I sleep so the CPAP strap doesn't pull on my hair as I've noticed a little thinning where the strap hits. I think over time I'll see if it helps. I don't think I would put them on the outside to help the sweat in my eyes is black there. The price was good.
