***Update: Having owned them for over a year and a half I have had to change my rating from 5 to 3 stars for the following reasons. • The finishing is just like that - top coat, fake finish. I assumed "curved finish" meant it was varnished wood, but that's not the case. I have no idea what's actually under the disguise, pine, I guess? It comes off very easily, which you really shouldn't do. I initially thought my little one might have bumped into the edges of the countertop, but as you can see from the photos, even the areas that don't touch have significant signs of wear - and they were removed from the kitchen shortly after my initial inspection. so he didn't touch her for a year. I had to tape them to prevent further damage. • Accommodate people over 80 pounds. sitting on this chair at its maximum height is not recommended. he will break Luckily I'm a mechanical woman and was able to fix that. The positive points below in my original review still apply. The vinyl seat is also in excellent condition, still comfortable with no dents. The wood is beautiful and complements my dark oak very well. They must have changed their packaging after I saw the parts rub against each other in transit because the seats were separate from the metal parts in the crate and each component was securely wrapped and padded. I was able to bring them together while fighting a rebellious toddler in about 15 minutes, which was a relief. I was concerned that the posts wouldn't have much resistance when adjusting the height, but they work really well and don't fall as quickly as some of the ones I've had in the past. The seats are very comfortable and can even accommodate quite tall ones in the back! (Thanks for checking that for us, Grandma!) The only downside to these chairs is that they break if they collide with the quartz top; On the other hand, if you don't have a toddler banging them back and forth, you'll be fine. Overall this is a STEAL for the price compared to our local furniture store. Worth the investment. I'm buying 4 more for the basement bar.
