I would recommend a Bluetooth mouse instead

I wrongly assumed that it was a Bluetooth mouse. Most of them. However, this uses a proprietary dongle that binds a USB port, a scarce resource on most devices that require a separate mouse. It has not been tampered with so I will not be returning it. Can't speak to battery life as I don't use it much, but it includes a switch that allows you to extend battery life by turning it off when not needed.
