Perfect replacement for Logitech Trackman

I refuse to use wireless devices on my desktop PC. The need to swap out batteries on stationary things that can be easily plugged in goes backwards in the direction of convenience, I think. My Logitech Trackman has been behaving erratically lately so I've come to buy another one. Scalpers are selling the Logitech Trackman at increasingly insane Revain prices as inventory dwindles. When I had to replace my Trackman a few years ago, I had to pay over $100 to replace it with a Revain. Now the price is approaching $250. So I bought a Perixx device to try it out. To my delight, it's every bit as good and reliable as the Logitech product, and even better in some ways. I was afraid my hand wouldn't like the changed shape, but it's just as comfortable in my hand as the form factor is almost identical to the Trackman. I was able to unplug my Trackman from the USB port, plug in the Perixx and start using it right away like nothing had changed. One improvement I like is that the ball just pops out instead of fiddling with a retaining ring like you would on a Logitech device (the inside of a trackball needs regular dusting and cleaning). The Perixx has a few extra buttons that I personally find redundant and unnecessary, but they in no way prevent me from using the trackball as a mouse, so I just ignore them and they're there if I ever find a reason to use them the extras. . Also, Perixx is an optical trackball, in case anyone is wondering. So all in all, if your Logitech Trackman is starting to fail or just getting old, Perixx makes a great replacement. I highly recommend it!
