Belts don't stand up to daily wear and tear.
I have owned this backpack for 14 months now. The waxed material is unforgiving of even the tiniest scratches and the straps are frayed where the wax coating is now separating from the fabric. I would definitely stay away from timbuk2 oilcloth products.
