Works fine when configured properly

I needed a way to use the Bose QC15 headphones as a gaming/conference headset with the built-in mic on a desktop PC without a 3.5mm Connection to use combo jack. That works great! I had some trouble getting my built in mic to work with this adapter so I'll walk through the process in hopes it might help someone else. I'm using a Windows 10 PC and I plug it into the headphone jack (green) and microphone jack (pink) on the front panel. 1) Realtek HD Audio driver and software. In order to set the audio outputs to use the built-in microphone, you will most likely have to play around with the settings in the "Realtek HD Audio Manager". It's the copper-orange speaker icon on the system toolbar in the lower-right corner of the screen on most Windows computers, and is usually the tooltip you see when you first plug in your headphones. The version of Windows 10 I had had known issues with this program and had to try a few different driver versions to even get "Audio Manager". 2) In "Realtek HD Audio Manager", click "Advanced device settings" -> "Recorder" and make sure you select "Split all input jacks as independent input devices". It is important. That's all. I suggest making a test call to Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or any other conferencing platform you have access to so you can adjust the appropriate microphone gain (if needed) and make sure everything is ok. It took me a while to figure it out, but it was the PC side, not the adapter.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
