I have children. So my car sometimes gets crumbly. Whenever it got too crumbly, I would plug an extension cord into the shop vacuum and haul the shop vacuum to the car. The shop vacuum certainly worked for cleaning up the crumbs, but with a cord stretched from the house to the car, it's tiring. And when things are tiring for me, they rarely get completed. I knew I needed something more portable to get the job done. So I was excited to try this portable vacuum cleaner. What I love about this vacuum cleaner is that it gets the job done. It has both a plug-in mode and a portable mode. The vacuum was noticeably more powerful when plugged into my car's 12V cigarette lighter socket than when it was completely cordless. At the same time, the portable mode was enough to suck up my crumbs. Emptying the dust container is quick and easy. Granted, since it's just cake dust and crumbs, I just pushed the button to move the bin and threw the crumbs onto the grass to decompose. One of my favorite features of this vacuum cleaner is its quiet operation. I was prepared for it to be loud, but it's pretty quiet. This seems to apply to both portable and plug-in devices. My only criticism of this design has to do with the rear port. This is a square round plug typically used on polarized 120V AC cords but requires 12V DC. My concern is that if I don't use it for a long time and forget that it's not an AC plug, I could seriously damage the device. Or if it ends up in a thrift store in the future, someone could mistake it for a polarized power cord. There is now a warning on the cord that comes with the kit, clearly stating that only 12v lighters should be used. Without a cable, however, this information is not obvious. I have to label the vacuum cleaner myself to remind me that only a 12v cord can be used. Overall I am satisfied with this product. I'll leave it in the car from now on. I hope this helps me wash my car more often.
