The thing is excellent! BUT. The cord wears out quickly. I was amazed at how much the Trond receiver in the Etymotic Research headphones improved my sound. It is necessary. Except not THAT. Take a more expensive option from the same manufacturer: Ear Buddy. This one wore out in a few months, I mean it's completely worn out and gone. I have EarBuddy. Great sound and now I have a durable product. I am active but have used this dampener in a sedentary job. I kept the receiver and attenuator in my pocket. In general, I use my gear pretty hard, but I'm not rude and I store it carefully. Now I have a physical job in a dirty environment (steel mill). A more expensive attenuator hangs without problems. If you sit still, don't go anywhere and leave the dampener plugged into your laptop, you'll love this dampener. If you have one life, it won't work.
