Ideal for frothing milk. Ever since I bought this I've been using it every time I make a latte (several times a day). Even with a lot of practice and experience, it is impossible to accurately determine the temperature of milk without a thermometer. Something like this can help you always get the perfect temperature. However, the temperature on this thermometer is not displayed immediately. Pretty behind. I've found that with 4.5 ounces of milk I have to stop boiling when the thermometer is about 15 degrees lower than I want, and with 6 ounces that temperature drops a bit to about 12 degrees. It all depends on how powerful your steamer is and how much milk you're steaming, but I would expect this thermometer to typically read 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit below actual temperature at the end of steaming. You know it's easy to use. If I need milk at 155 degrees Fahrenheit, I just turn off the steam once the temperature hits the 140 degree mark.
