The attached photo shows the surface of the tortoiseshell neck warmer that I have worn about 8 times curling and falling off. As you can see, the fibers on the surface (which give it an unusually soft feel) have loosened and a kind of fluff has formed on the surface of the fabric. When I remove the heating pad, balls of lint stick to my face. I still use the neck warmer, it's soft and comfortable, but I use my fingers to pull the clumps of fibers off the surface so they don't itch or pull away from my clothes and face. Knowing what I know now, I would not buy this neck warmer. I also bought a similar neck warmer sold by Carhartt, it's the same size but cheaper and the fabric doesn't pill; it doesn't feel that luxurious at first, but I end up preferring it.
