First things first, these are NOT polishing strips. These are vinyl nail stickers. I've used them twice without a base. After removing, a sticky residue was left on the nails. I had to wash my hands several times with a good soap cutting them through and then using alcohol soaked cotton swabs to wash them off. Now I use Base and Top. Seems to help because I have to use nail polish remover to remove - less residue. At the same time - they are really cute - and very easy to apply.
