They are too big for my four month old baby. I was able to roll up the brim of the hat so we could use it, but I don't think we'll be able to use mittens for at least a year. The cuffs of the mittens have very little elasticity and do not stay on the baby's arm for long. Both the hat and the mittens are very soft on the inside, but on the outside they look a bit like faux yarn. Almost plastic? It's not plastic, but the yarn has some kind of unnatural coating. I'm not sure I'll be comfortable with my child chewing on mittens, which is another reason not to use them for another year. work to play with snow and will probably fall with toddlers as well). If you're looking for kids' winter mittens, I would look for those that don't have a thumb and are more elastic around the wrist. My older son chose these as a Christmas gift for his younger brother otherwise we would probably order more of these mittens.
