I started ordering this food in the spring because I bought the other brand my four dogs were from Revain order would be satisfied, often arrived damaged. Torn bags, hastily taped shut, were not uncommon. The Wellness Core took less damage, although some torn pouches were still taped shut. The dogs weren't thrilled with the change, but they ate the new food when hungry. The last straw, however, was that I received a bag that appeared to explode and then was sealed with possibly a whole roll of duct tape. This food stayed in my dog's bowl all day. Not a single dog ate it! It was a very musty smell. And given the gaping hole that was taped shut, who knows how much went back into the bag after the explosion, or if the exploding food was picked up off the floor and put back in the bag. So I started feeding them raw frozen very decent dog food which I have to drive 30 minutes one way for since we live in the country. They love it! That might seem very uncomfortable, but as it turns out, it's hardly the case. In the spring, two of my dogs suddenly developed skin allergies. (They are not related. All mutts were rescued from different parts of the country.) I was sure it was spring grass. Summer has come, but the allergy remains. Hmm, I thought. Autumn has come and the allergies have worsened. I was afraid that a dog would start chewing on his skin. They both had a horrible stinky smell that came back the next day after I washed and scrubbed them. Someone told me their dog had terrible allergies and the treatment was sooo expensive. Oh no. But once I stopped feeding this food to my dogs, a dog's red skin disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. Another dog took about five days to completely stop chewing the leather. And it doesn't stink anymore! Looking back I realized that the allergy started when I started feeding her this food! They are much happier and more energetic. Getting this new food is worth it on so many levels. When I chose Wellness Core, with its reputation for being healthy and safe, I thought I'd pick a winner. I don't know why two of my four dogs, none of whom had an allergy, react so badly to this food. Either it's not as good as its reputation suggests, or I bought a fake. I do not know. If you still want to give it a try, keep an eye out for the less than enthusiastic interest in it and watch out for any emerging allergies. And if you don't want to go through the hassle of returning groceries that are no longer sealed and may have expired due to poor handling somewhere along the way or poor packaging, you can just make a trip to the pet store.
