I needed a holder for napkins, salt and pepper, a weekly box of vitamins etc that could be easily placed on the kitchen counter or removed when needed. This saves me from constantly moving individual articles. Also, our cat likes to play with everything on the table (actually he's not allowed on the table, but he's a cat who doesn't like rules) and that prevents him from throwing them on the floor. So this works very well in everything I need. It's durable and doesn't take up much desk space but still holds everything I need. If I ever decide not to use it on a table it will have many other uses, so it's a guardian.
