NOT ALL LEDS ARE THE SAME

I needed to restore 10 old chandeliers and replace 10 existing 500w incandescent bulbs. I have tried many 25w, 50w, 60w, 80w, 100w and 120w LEDs in the 4000k to 6000k range to get as close to an incandescent as possible get. These commercially available DUU TOO 80W-4000k LEDs offer the most even light and have the smallest diameter for better heat dissipation in the fixture. The LEDs on the bottom provide even illumination of floor areas from 9 feet to the ceiling 21 feet in a 45 x 90 foot room. The choice was to combine these LEDs with the wall lighting that surrounded the room, each with two 100 watt bulbs, forget it. Switching to 72w halogen (dimmable) reduced the difference but allowed the sconces to be dimmed when the LEDs were off. DUU TOO 80W-4000k proved to be the best choice when it came to reducing load power from 5000W to 800W, saving 4200W from chandeliers, plus 480W reduction in sconce lighting. The LEDs may have the same numbers but they are not constructed the same, other 80W-4000k LEDs I tested produced significantly different brightness and color. Try before you buy something that is non-refundable. These DUU TOOs turned out to be the best choice for this purpose. In terms of durability, I probably should have ordered replacement parts, but with the heat of the open air lowering the temperature of the control components in the LED, longevity shouldn't be an issue. Remember that these LEDs are standard E26 lamp bases. They come with Mogul E26/E39 plastic adapters. Mogul sockets, especially old ones like ours, didn't let some adapters go deep enough to make contact, they broke! Contacts in old sockets of any size become brittle with age and temperature and can snap when pulled. My solution was E26/E39 (Home Depot) ceramic adapters which are tight and less likely to loosen over time.
