Any disconnection from the USB port will result in no connection: it is a USB 3.0 port. If you look into plug A of the device, you will see that there are not four copper pins, but more inside at the back of the plug. An incomplete connection will short out the front and rear pins, causing the hub to not function. A possible workaround might be a short 3-inch USB 3.0 AA extension, but that defeats the purpose of the built-in hub design. Things to consider before buying.
