There are some bad reviews online for LG Watch Style, so I decided to write a review in its defense because I really like it, need to understand that there is no smart watch technology yet. All smartwatches currently on the market have flaws, you just have to decide which flaws you can live with. Or you can postpone the purchase and wait. I still think they are a useful gadget, but in a few years they will be indispensable. The big plus of LG Watch Style is the form factor. This is almost the first smartwatch that looks like a regular watch and fits any wrist size. It is relatively small, light and thin. This is normal for ordinary watches but very important for smartwatches. This is the smartwatch to wear if you don't want others to notice you're wearing a smartwatch. Another plus is Android Wear 2.0. It's a really nice UI, smooth navigation, highly customizable, and quite powerful. It's currently one of only two Android watches to use a rotating crown, which works very well and makes navigation easier. If you invest in the Android ecosystem, Google Assistant and Google's native apps will come in really handy. The screen is really good. This is an AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, which should bring it closer to the best DPI of any smartwatch given the size of this watch. They're really nice, especially after upgrading from the Sony SW2, which I really liked but was pretty damn blocky. The downsides of this watch are pretty obvious. First, it lacks many of the features found on many newer smartwatches (like the LG Watch Sport). No GPS, no heart monitor, no NFC. The technology to pack them into thin watches isn't there yet. Personally, I would prefer a thin watch to these features. I usually keep my phone in my pocket, so I don't need GPS on my watch either. My bank doesn't offer NFC payment and I always take my wallet or phone with me when I go shopping. The watch can still track steps and my main exercise is walking so this works for me. Second, the battery is small. Again, this is part of the watch size deal. It's not as bad as some reviewers claim - I get around 16-18 hours on a full charge of typical use right now, which is enough for a full day. I'm sure I could get more by turning off wifi and notifications for apps I don't need. Hopefully software updates can squeeze in a bit more, but there will always be a daily fee situation. It sucks, but there aren't many smartwatches out there that offer longer battery life. Again, I am sure that this will change in a few years. At least the charger is magnetic and wireless so there are no issues with pen alignment etc. The main plus is the price. The watch started at $249, but six weeks later it's $179, a much more reasonable price. This is by far the best budget smartwatch out there. At this price, the competition consists of two-year-old flat tire models and knockoffs from other manufacturers, both of which have all the flaws of this watch and more. With all these caveats, I think this is a really good smartwatch. now if you're willing to sacrifice features and battery life for size and style.
