I bought these 4 packs based on the great reviews and best price per unit. Turns out not a bad choice and I'll add another 5 star rating. The beacon mode can be most useful in traffic accidents, so I tested it with 3 eneloop batteries to see how long it lasts. After 10 hours the batteries were mostly dead, but the lights continued to flash just as brightly as when using new batteries. Very impressive. The lights are very bright and should be visible even in daylight. The package includes instructions on how to open the back panel to insert the batteries. The back panel is attached firmly enough to be waterproof. Without reading the instructions I would probably try to pry it open with a screwdriver or something and damage the case. In case you're wondering, there are two pull tabs at 2 and 10 o'clock to give you leverage to remove the back panel. Also interesting is that the seller mentioned not to use regular or cheap alkaline batteries as they would eventually leak and ruin the device. That's my experience too. Even "good" batteries from Duracell and Costco Kirkland can leak after a period of time. Energizer max and Lithium Primary Energizer are the only two types that won't leak, or try rechargeable LSD NiMH batteries.
