Wanted one but was disappointed

I read a lot of reviews and decided to buy this gel pad and mouse pad combo. It turns out that many of the fears expressed by others were true. Size: That's partly my fault, but when I saw 9 inches, my brain thought it was the size of the mouse's surface area. OK. That means there's about 6.5 inches of space between the rest and the top of the mouse surface. My mouse (Logitech G700s) is 4.75 inches long. She's a little tight. Due to the size of my hand and the size of my mouse, I usually work at the very top of the mouse surface. It should be another 2 inches longer. To be the best product, the width is enough. I've seen others complain about the mouse pad curling. Mine started curling a few days after use. Now my mouse is climbing up a slight incline at both top corners. The surface of the mouse is surprisingly rough. I didn't think the "microgrooves" would be so noticeable. I usually notice it when my little finger rubs against her fingernail. It's very distracting. If I use another mouse that doesn't have a thumb rest, I have the same problem with my thumb. I hope this doesn't accelerate the wear of my mouse's glide pads. The gel stand is stronger than I had hoped. Maybe that's a function of the faux leather coating. I liked the idea of wiping the finish clean but had to go for the one with the lycr finish. I was willing to pay $18 for a great mouse pad. Unfortunately I don't think I got that. This product may suit some, but if the points I've made are important to you, don't buy it.
