Useful but a bit clumsy
It seems to work, although I haven't caught anything with night vision yet. Personally, I find it a little awkward to regularly review photos. It's in my backyard trying to identify the critters that are invading my yard, so I check it daily. He needs space to fully open and see the screen. Being flush with the fence is a challenge to the view. Instead, you can invest in one with an app.
