I am not a climber. I bought rings to hang my hammock, which is what happened when I attached it to my carabiner. All rings have a very smooth surface with specific markings. Were they well packaged in a small (I think) waxed paper bag to keep moisture out? In any case, it was a good bag. They arrived on time and I can't wait to find out what else I'll be using them for.
