Review on πŸ›‘οΈ Supershieldz Microsoft Surface Duo Screen Protector (3-Pack), High Definition Clear Shield for Left and Right Screens (PET) by Gabriel Elliott

You need a professional strategy to apply this screen protector.

Let's face it. Creating a standard "phone security accessory" for the Surface Duo is not easy. Aside from Microsoft's "Duo Bumper," there aren't cases for the Duo that offer the same level of protection as other phones. The Duo's foldable design also seems to limit our options for third-party screen protectors. Too thick and two screen protectors on top of each other when the duo is closed will result in the device not closing completely - the problem of thickness also means a lack of high-quality tempered glass screen protectors. With the Supershieldz screen protector for Surface Duo you get 6 very thin standard screen protectors per pack. Trust me you will need all three as your first attempt will most likely fail. Why? Because they are so thin, most users face the usual issues (air bubbles and dust particles) when applying a screen protector. Because each sheet is very thin, there are usually a lot more air bubbles with this protection than if it were a piece of tempered glass. Most of the time, if you have blisters, all you need is a soft scraper with a plastic edge or a credit card to scrape the blisters down to the bottom of the tread. This is where you will encounter problems with the Supershieldz profile. Since the screen protector is very thin, it may scratch slightly (not perfect at all) if you use too much force to push out these bubbles (especially small ones). Pressing too many bubbles on the edge of the tread in the same spot will weaken that area and I think over time (as mentioned in some other reviews) the protective film will "lift". at these edges. Another problem you will encounter is when dust particles get caught under the film. In the case of a tempered glass screen protector, this is relatively easy - just take two pieces of clear tape, use one to lift the screen protector, and then touch the screen or the back of the screen protector where you suspect the dust particle. Then reattach the protection and check if the particle has disappeared. With the screen protector it's a bit trickier, you have to peel off the edge in a way that doesn't ruin it (but over 60% of the time it will ruin it). With this Supershieldz protector? Don't bother either. Either decide to live with that particle under the tread, or prepare to take the foil off and try again (and again if you must, since you have three treads per side of the duo). Bubbles and dust, you'll encounter one final problem: finger smudges. The Surface Duo's glass can capture fingerprints, but you probably won't see them when the screen is on. Not so with built-in Supershieldz protectors. After using the Duo for just an hour or two with the screen protector in place, I could clearly see smudges against the black background of everything on the screen. So, um, if you can stick the film on without bubbles and dust, maybe you can only handle your duo with library manager's gloves?
