Review on πŸ”ͺ Precision Folding Hunter Knife: KA-BAR 3189, Black Edition by John Brouillard

Looks good, wears - not so

Strong lock, easy to open and close, good looking, easy to sharpen and inexpensive. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap retainer, just be aware that it is made from inferior steel that will need to be sharpened after use. It's not a Buck 110 and it's not meant to be. If that's what you're looking for, keep looking. I could use it all day in the woods but after skinning 2 rabbits I had to run it on steel. At the end of the day and on the 4th rabbit I used my diamond whetstone. At the end of the 2nd day it had to be sharpened on a stone. I've never had to do that with my Buck. In fact, I skinned a deer with a Buck 110 with no problems. That the knife needs to be resharpened after skinning 9 rabbits doesn't say much about the blade. If you're looking for something to open crates during the day, this will do. You'll just have to regrind every day, so don't set your expectations too high. For what it is, he'll do an honest job at a fair price.

Pros
  • Absolutely great!
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
