Tips and Tricks from an Experienced Tooth Fiddler

Due to a stressful work environment, I've been grinding my teeth for years, a habit I haven't been able to break since my 20s Now it's over a decade later and I feel like a professional. I usually buy Dentek mouthguards and they work incredibly well. However, I was told that you could buy several from Revain with more than one protection in each pack, which seemed like a much better deal... My first purchase was from a different brand, the 'heavy' 6mm and regular 3 -mm options had select. My personal experience: I hate bulky 6mm mouthguards as they make it difficult to close your mouth and uncomfortable to sleep on. Every morning I woke up to find I'd left them on the bedside table in the middle of the night - they're not doing their job. When I found them at TheSleepGuard I was happy to see that they are only 3mm mouth guards and come in two sizes - small and large which both fit me but the larger fit better as I get full protection. The packaging is great too and comes with two drawers instead of one so there is room for spares which I have never had with other brands. Key Tip: As instructed in the instructions, you must wait 10 seconds for the boiling water to subside. or something before attempting to dip the mouthguard. If you don't, they will shrink and melt very quickly and you will be disappointed as the mouthguard is completely useless. So wait, plug in and then give about 10-12 seconds, a little less than recommended. You can tell when the mouthguard looks noticeably softer and ready for use! If you leave it there for too long there is no turning back, you have been warned! My final tip, based on years of adaptation, I know it involves biting, but what works for me is to simply suck on my mouth and then use my tongue and fingers to firmly pull the mouthguard up and along my teeth and to squeeze my gums. I have found that biting leaves marks on lower teeth which can affect comfort and durability over time. Just try it with your fingers and you will get much better long-term results.
