My 5 year old daughter chose this dress as her floral dress. Bought a size 5-6 which I think would be perfect as she is usually in between these two sizes, at an average height and weight for her age. Her dress was VERY large, it was long and hung awkwardly at the bust. But the belt was even bigger. Honestly I could wear a belt and I'm not even petite. We had to cut a new hole in it to keep it from hanging out. I wanted it back right away but she was still in love so we just did our best. Even if you downsize, you can buy another belt!
